So I bought this video game joystick on ebay. It was very snazzy and excited me greatly.

I read this person's details and it said it would be for immediate sale because they would be going overseas. Great. I can do that. So I go to pay for the item but there is no bank details. So I pop them a message asking them for the details. I don't get a reply passed the date that they stated they would be going away. Upset, I thought I would just not receive the item.

Days later the joystick arrives. I was confused because usually when you use ebay you don't ship something without a payment. I get a message from Andrew saying 'Oh you got an email from that guy with the joystick.' Great. Deep down I really wanted to pay this guy. (Though I made a few jokes about getting it for free)

This is what it said:

Have you received your item? Good. What was the postage?

My program of departure was caught short by 2 days and I had to leave town early.

I asked a friend to post the item to you. He paid for it. I will compensate his expenses.

Did I quote you $20? or did I guess? I imagined that I only guessed because your item was hurriedly packed (great job hey?) on the back of a Jeep ute in the carpark of Target (where I got the boxes from) under a sweltering sun with less than 20minutes remaining before my train departed from Bundaberg station on wednesday morning, the 6th of December after a night on 3hrs sleep cramming 3 'preparation-to-leave' days work into 1. I would have preferred that circumstance be more relaxed than they were, but it happens, and it happened...

But, if I quoted you 20$, please pay only 20$, feel good at having scored a postal discount and have a happy life!

I am presently on the road and may not reply to your emails before monday at the earliest.

I assume that you will fix it up by paypal...

Now I admired their tenacity here. So I wrote them a message back thanking them and giving their situation a big 'holy shit get the fuck out' (not in those words) and told them that I wouldn't be able to pay for the joystick till Thursday. (I had spent the money I had for this on Christmas presents and some other ebay stuff)

My Friday was something you really can't describe.

First thing was I had a class in St Albans at 11:30. So I hop on a train at about 9 so I could get there early and discuss with the tutor why I had missed the first two classes. Now this subject focuses on the dynamics of communication within groups so I was talking to some other people in that class and they told me 'honestly I don't know if it will be okay if you started the class this late' so I was pretty anxious.

I get to Spencer Street and I see a train. It was going to Weribee so I stood aside and began waiting for the next Watergardens-bound train. The Weribee train sat there for 30 or so minutes. I expected this to be a broken down train as they say in the announcements at Flinders St but I suppose I was wrong. A man in Connex uniform came to announce that the whole station had to be evacuated. No reason could be given but we were instructed to leave in an orderly fashion, without panic. I assumed it was a bomb threat so I got the fuck out. I began to walk to Flinders St so I could get to Uni but I heard 'everything is clear, let them in.' So I got back into the station and I was cool.

I got on the Watergardens train and sat down listening to the radio. At about West Footscray an old man got on and sat next to me. He sat particularly close so I shuffled over a bit. This was strange because the carriage was basically empty so I assumed he was just lonely or whatever. He kept looking at me to start a conversation but I didn't exactly feel like a conversation so I kept the radio on and looked the other way. We got to Sunshine station and he tapped he on the shoulder. In broken English he said to me 'You like music?' My stupid instinct was to acknowledge him. So I nodded. 'Good. You good boy.' he said to me. 'You a good, young boy.' I said 'Yes.' Me trying to insert an awkward silence began again 'Young people today like music.' I agreed because it's true. 'They like drinking and they like drugs.' I agreed again. 'They like sex too. Sex is good.' I laughed because I thought he was doing the whole funny old man thing. 'My age, sex is over.' Okay, so this old man was pouring out to me. I started to get anxious here but didn't really react. 'My wife. She find my tapes. They have girl and girl. Boy and boy. They are happy.' I stood up and picked up my bag. I wasn't going to continue this shit. Sorry. He then says to me 'You very beautiful.' I got the fuck off the train at Ginifer and walked to Uni. I was really angry. I'd say 15% of it was animalistic and the other 85 was because he had a fucking wife. I wanted to punch his lights out.

I got to class 10 minutes late because I was in Ginifer. It was awesome. I got to stay in the class because there was a newcomer last week and an introduction seemed like an okay thing. Awesome.

I went to Michelle's house and hung out there. Jeff came to my house and we made this remix and I went to bed.
